During this cultural trek, you will observe an astonishing variety of scenery and ecological zones, snow-capped peaks, and archaeological remains.
Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, take the train to Km 104 and begin a full day of hiking on the famous Inca Trail! You will twist, turn and wind your way through the stunning cloud forest, finally ending with your descent into the majestic ruins of Machu Picchu. Spend the night in Machu Picchu Pueblo before returning to explore the ancient citadel further the following morning. By the afternoon, you will board the return train to Cusco for the final evening of your adventure.

We recommend you be in Cusco at least 2 days before your trek to be acclimatized to Cusco’s altitude so that you won’t have a problem during the tour.

We will pick you up very early from your hotel in Cusco and leave by van for 2 hours until you reach the village of Socma (3000m / 9,842ft.), the starting point of our trek, where we meet the horsemen and horses.
We start our expeditions to Perolniyoc Inca ruins. Along the way, we will have an incredible cascade, where we have time to take pictures and rest.
Then we will hike up 30 minutes more to get to the archaeological site of Perolniyoc, which is in the upper part of the valley. After exploring and receiving information about the ruins from your guide, we continue for another 30 minutes to the lunch spot, known as Rayan-Niyoc (3.600m / 11,811ft.). After lunch, we will keep ascending for an hour towards the first camp.

We will wake up very early and have breakfast before a challenging trek. This second day is the most challenging but, at the same time, a rewarding day.
The first 3 hours will be uphill to the top of the first pass, known as Puccaqasa (4,370m / 14,337ft.). We will have an impressive view of undulating valleys below; after hiking 1 hour more, we will arrive at the place of lunch, stopping to rest and catch our breath.
After a nutritious lunch, we will continue our hike for 2 hours until we reach the highest point of the trek: Kuychicassa (4450m / 14599ft), with breathtaking views of the valley below.
Subsequently, we continue descending for another 2 hours at the Incas called Inti Punku (Sun Gate), with imposing views over the valley below and the Veronica Mountain raising over the horizon. Our campsite is Choquetacarpo (3600m / 11811ft). We set up our tent and overnight there.

We will have an early breakfast and then walk one hour downhill to the Cachiqata Inca quarry (3,525 m/ 11,562 ft), where we observe the location where stones were cut for Ollantaytambo. We will have a tour and talk about how you can still see remains of stonework that was interrupted by the Spanish conquest.
From the quarry, we descend for 3 hours until we reach Ollantaytambo (2,840 m / 9,315 ft). We will have lunch in Ollantaytambo. Where we stay this third night, after a deserved relaxation at the hotel, we’ll go for an exploration of the authentic Incan streets in the same town. At night, We’ll have our dinner at the tourist restaurants.

We will pick you up from the hotel in Ollantaytambo from here we will take the train to the Km. 104. We will start our hike of the short Inca trail, crossing by a hanging bridge over the Urubamba River to approach the small but attractive Inca archaeological complex of the Chachabamba site.
After visiting this site, we will begin a four-hour ascent to the enclosure of Wiñay Wayna 2700m. (8858 ft.) An important Inka spiritual site and one of the most impressive around the Inca trails. At this point, the trail joins with the main Inca Trail. From here, we will be walking on the Inca trail.
The Inca trail cuts across the ridge above Machu Picchu to finally reach Intipunku or Sun Gate; from here, the trail is downhill (40 minutes) into the lost citadel of Machu Picchu at 2450m. (8038 ft.) We will take a bus to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town) hostel accommodation, and then we will visit the thermal baths. (optional).

After a well-deserved night’s rest, It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for wandering the mysterious streets of the majestic historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Today, we’ll wake up early to have breakfast at your hotel, and then we will take a short walk from your hotel to catch a bus that’ll take you on a 25-minute drive to the entrance of the Machu Picchu Inca citadel. You and your tour guide will enter just before the sun comes up and paints the fortress with a gorgeous hue.
After soaking it all in and taking your first few photographs, your guide will take you on a 2-hour private guided tour of the fantastic Inca site, where you’ll be visiting all the most essential parts of Machu Picchu, including the Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Condor, Temple of the Three Windows, Sun Dial, Quarry, the Houses of the Inca and learning a lot from your local expert. Once the tour is up, you then have a few more hours to explore by yourself or climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain if you’ve booked a ticket in advance; however, spaces are subject to availability. In the unlikely event that Huayna Picchu permits are not available for your departure date, you will climb Machu Picchu Mountain instead.
Those who have tickets to Huayna Picchu will have time to climb the mountain, which takes approximately an hour and a half round-trip, and you’ll need up to 3 hours for Machu Picchu Mountain and will experience more stunning views of the whole Inca city. If you don’t have a pre-booked ticket, you can also take a free hike up to the Inca Bridge.
After exploring the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, it will be time to head back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). You’ll have time to select a restaurant of your choice for a bite to eat before catching a train. Depending on your train departure time, you may also have time for some shopping and sightseeing or a visit to the museum or hot springs. Your train back to Ollantaytambo will be at 2:55 pm or 3:20 pm (subject to availability). Once you arrive in Ollantaytambo, private transport will pick you up and take you back to your hotel in Cusco. You can expect to arrive at your hotel by 7:00 pm.
